Students will benefit from current, realistic information and a perspective on key concepts being taught, such as interest rates, stocks, economic indicators and presentation skills.
Each Department and Student looks to industry professionals throughout the year for feedback and insight. Our students select positions and interview based on their career desires.
The ability to speak with or meet with a mentor is a great asset to student development and their professional growth. Mentors would help students to guide and accomplish their goals.
Aside from events, mentors can meet with and speak with students based on mentor availability and convenience in person at school, outside of school, or via skype, facetime or email.

NYC UFT HQ
The Virtual Enterprise (VE) NYC Citywide Business Competition was held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at UFT Headquarters. The idea behind Virtual Enterprise is to simulate a business environment by creating companies managed and employed by students to sell their own unique products or services.
Students presented a total of three times in the past month to professionals in the industry that judged them based on their written business plan, business model and oral presentation.
With over 40 teams participating, we are proud to announce that all of Francis Lewis High School’s VE Firms (ReImagin3D, NüApps, and Matchwear) made the top 20 in the competition. NüApps made it to the Final Round of Top 8 in the City! NüApps creates and sells iOS apps for the iTunes and Google Play Store. Proceeds from these sales will go to further develop the Virtual Enterprise Program and to provide scholarships for these students.
While only the top three firms of NYC advance to the National Competition in April 2016 this is an exciting accomplishment for all of our students. Congratulations! All three firms have a major Business Tradeshow Event coming up in April. We wish them the best!
