TASK 1 - How persuasive are you?

  1. What does it mean to be persuasive?

  2. Do you remember the last time you persuaded somebody to do something? (Explain)

  3. Are you easily persuaded to do things?

  4. Do you agree with this opinion: Persuasion is often more effectual than force. (Explain)

 

How to sound persuasive. Look at the situations A – C. What 3 arguments could you use to persuade your friend?

Situation A: Your friend isn’t sure they should accept a new job.

 

Situation B: Your friend isn’t sure they should buy an expensive apartment in the center of NYC .

 

Situation C: Your friend isn’t sure they should take up a language course on the weekends.

TASK 2 - BUSINESS EMAIL WRITING

Email Etiquette – How to write business email properly

  1. Choose a clear subject line. Let your readers know what the email is about.

  2. Use your professional email address. It should include your name to let he recipient know who is contacting them.

  3. Signature. Your email should have a signature with your name, email and phone number so the recipient can contact you.

  4. Use professional salutations. Avoid “Hey” and shortening people’s names.

  5. Use CAPITAL LETTERS sparingly. They make you appear too emotional and even impolite.

  6. Reply in a timely manner. Don’t take longer than 24 hours.

  7. Use spell check and always proofread. Re-read your email several times before you click send.
